THE SWARM

Jerry Goldsmith’s bold score for The Swarm employs dense orchestration and inventive techniques—particularly buzzing strings and horns—to evoke the terror of an invading swarm of killer bees. The themes span dramatic action, suspenseful menace, romantic interludes, and militaristic urgency. Though the film was critically panned, Goldsmith’s score remains a standout example of 1970s disaster scoring and has since become a collectible favorite.
