AMERICATHON

Price

$10.00

This eclectic soundtrack album accompanies the satirical film Americathon (1979). It blends contributions from mainstream pop and rock artists with quirky novelty pieces. Highlights include The Beach Boys’ “It’s a Beautiful Day”, Eddie Money’s energetic “Get a Move On” and “Open Up Your Heart”, early tracks from Elvis Costello (“(I Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea” and “Crawling to the U.S.A.”), Nick Lowe’s “Without Love”, Tom Scott’s instrumental “Car Wars”, and Harvey Korman’s comedic number “Gold”—a short satirical piece. The record was issued in both commercial and promotional versions, some labeled “Gold stamp promo.”
